Windows 11’s most anticipated feature is finally here! It’s now possible to run Android apps in Windows 11 via the Amazon App Store and the Windows Subsystem for Android.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
– Your PC needs to be on Windows 11 Build 22000+ series builds (Beta channel) and meet certain hardware requirements (more info below!)
– You may need to enable virtualization for your PC’s BIOS/UEFI. More information on that is available below!
– Make sure you’re running Microsoft Store version 22110.1402.6.0 or higher. You can check for updates for Store by going to your Library and clicking the “Get updates” button.
– Your PCs’ region must be set to the U.S.
– Your PC must be in the Beta Channel. If you are new to the Windows Insider Program, click the link below to get started with registration and joining your PC to the Beta Channel.
– You will also need to have a U.S.-based Amazon account to use the Amazon Appstore.

2. Under the “ADB and fastboot” section, click the Download button for the Windows 11 platform.
3. Save the zip file on the computer.
4. Double-click the platform-tools zip folder.
5. Click the Extract all button from the command bar.
6. Select the location to extract the files.
7. Click the Extract button.

12. Click the Copy button to copy the IP address of the Windows Subsystem for Android virtual machine to the clipboard.
13. Open Start.
14. Search for Command Prompt, right-click the top result, and select the Run as administrator option.
15. Type the following command to navigate to the platform-tools folder and press Enter:

NOTE: In the command, change the IP address corresponding to your WSA instance.
17. Type the following command to install the Android apk app on Windows 11 and press Enter: adb install firefox.apk

In the command, specify the name of the apk package you downloaded from another source and want to install on Windows 11. Also, the .apk file should be stored in the platform-tools folder to work.

INSTALL THE AMAZON APP STORE
Once you confirm you meet Microsoft’s requirements, you can install the Amazon App Store in Windows 11. To do this, search for it in the Microsoft Store in Windows 11. It should show up. If not, try updating your store version. You also can click here to get to the Amazon App Store directly.

Once you install the Amazon App Store, it should launch its own setup. The setup will check your PC and install the Windows Subsystem for Android in the background. Let the process complete. It could take a few minutes, depending on the speed of your PC.

LAUNCH THE AMAZON APP STORE, AND INSTALL APPS!
With the Amazon App Store installed, you can now install Android apps directly. Just search the available catalogue in the Amazon App Store, or search for your apps. You can click on an app listing, and then the Install button to install. The app will download, and you’ll be able to launch it by going to your Start Menu. Currently, there’s a small selection of 50 apps, but Microsoft says more are on the way.

A dedicated settings app can be used to toggle hardware-accelerated graphics, the behavior of the subsystem to be ephemeral or persistent, and developer mode, among other things. Microsoft has also provided guidance to developers about how they can update their app’s code to respond to keyboard and mouse inputs. Additionally, the company has outlined debugging and window resizing details too.
