Summary of this tutorial:
First thing we want to do is head on over to the WordPress dashboard. Over on the left side menu we want to select the plugins link. Once you select the plugins link you will see the add new button up towards the top of the page. Select the add new button. Then you will see the search plugins search box over on the right hand side of the page. Type in WP-Optimize. The WP-Optimize plugin should show as the first plugin. Install the plugin. Once it is done installing click activate to activate the WP-Optimize plugin.
Once the plugin is activated find WP-Optimize over on the left side menu. Click the WP-Optimize link and you will now see optimization options consisting of optimize database tables, clean all post revisions, clean all auto draft posts and posts in trash, remove spam comments and comments in trash, and remove unapproved comments. Now under that you are going to see some selections in red. Don’t select anything in red. We don’t want to mess anything up in your WordPress database. Select what you’d like above the red and then hit the run optimizations now button and that is how you can manually optimize your WordPress database for improved performance.
Now I want to show you a way to cleanup your WordPress database automatically. Click on the settings tab. You will now see keep last two weeks data. You can select or unselect this. You can’t select anything under two weeks. But you can choose anything above two weeks if you’d like. Just type how many weeks in.
You’ll see auto clean up settings next. You can select the schedule type to daily, weekly, every two weeks, or monthly. Under that you can select what you’d like the plugin WP-Optimize to clean up automatically. Once you select everything you’d like click the save settings button.
And that’s how to cleanup your WordPress database for improved performance 2019.
