In this video, I use the XLOOKUP function in Microsoft Excel to find the information of the students such as Student ID, Student Name, and Student’s marks.
What is the XLOOKUP Function in Microsoft Excel?
The XLOOKUP function in Microsoft Excel is a search tool that allows you to find a specific value within a range of data and return the corresponding value from another range, essentially acting as a more versatile replacement for older lookup functions like VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP, enabling searches in any direction and with more flexible matching options; it can perform exact matches, approximate matches, or even wildcard searches depending on your needs.
Syntax:
=XLOOKUP(lookup_value, lookup_array, return_array, [if_not_found], [match_mode], [search_mode])
lookup_value (Required): The value to search for.
lookup_array (Required): The array or range to search.
return_array (Required): The array or range to return.
if_not_found (Optional): Where a valid match is not found, return the [if_not_found] text you supply.
match_mode (Optional): 0, -1, 1, 2
search_mode (Optional): 1, -1, 2, -2
Formula in this video:
=XLOOKUP(A11,A3:A8,B3:C8)
