I am having this issue as well: Word could not create the work file. Check the Temp environment variable.
– Type regedit.exe
Go to:
1. HKEY_CURRENT_USER
2. Software
3. Microsoft
4. Windows
5. Current Version
6. Explorer
7. User Shell Folders
– Replace your value data with this:
%USERPROFILE%//AppData//Local//Microsoft//Windows//Temporary Internet Files
