Homogeneous just means the same throughout. Some soils can be homogeneous as their appearance is similar throughout the surface area. Some soils can be more heterogeneous where you can distinctly see different materials.

Soil is a mixture of organic matter, minerals, gases, liquids, and organisms that together support life. Earth’s body of soil, called the pedosphere, has four important functions: as a medium for plant growth. as a means of water storage, supply and purification.

Explanation: Wood, as you may know, is a heterogeneous mixture. But why? It is because all the elements and compounds in a piece of wood are not mixed evenly throughout the wood.

Homogeneous mixtures are mixtures in which the constituents don’t appear separately.

• blood.
• a sugar solution when the sugar is completely dissolved.
• a mixture of alcohol and water.
• a glass of orange juice.
• salty water (where the salt is completely dissolved)
• brewed tea or coffee.
• soapy water.

Heterogeneous mixture: An apple is a mixture of several chemical compounds. It is also heterogeneous in the fact there are different phases containing different chemicals.

Explanation: The mixture of water and flour forming a dough is a heterogeneous mixture.

It is homogeneous because all its ingredients, i.e. tea extract, sugar, lemon juice, are soluble in water, so that the solution is, despite the color, transparent. Adding even one teaspoonful of milk, which is itself an heterogeneous mixture, an emulsion, it will become heterogeneous and will no longer be transparent.

Glucose is a homogeneous mixture.

The sugar-water is a homogenous mixture while the sand-water is a heterogeneous mixture. Both are mixtures, but only the sugar-water can also be called a solution.

Carbon dioxide is not a heterogenous or a homogeneous mixture. It is a compound, where the different elements are chemically bonded together. It could be considered homogeneous, as it is uniform in composition throughout, but it isn’t properly called a mixture, but a compound.
