Why was Bianca angry with Cassio? She loved him and thought that some other woman had given him the handkerchief as a gift. It made things appear to Othello as though all Iago had said was true; that Desdemona had given it to Cassio, and that Cassio had in turn given it to a prostitute.

What was Emilia’s relationship with Iago/Desdemona? Iago’s wife; she is Desdemona’s BFF/Mistress.

Emilia is loyal to Desdemona, but she is loyal to Iago. She is caught between her conscience and her responsibilities as both a wife and Desdemona’s attendant. Until the final scene, Emilia does not suspect her husband of plotting against Othello.

What was Emilia’s reaction when Othello told her that Iago had revealed Desdemona’s affair with Cassio to him? She was shocked and amazed. All along she had thought the tale had been a lie contrived by some awful person; never dreaming that Iago was responsible.

Holding a candle, Othello stands over the sleeping Desdemona and prepares to kill her. He bends down to kiss her once before he does the deed, she wakes, and he tells her to prepare to die. Othello asks if Cassio has been killed as well, and Emilia informs him that Cassio is alive.

What does he think he is doing, and why? Othello still loves Desdemona, and does not want to see her slaughtered so he decides to smother her. Othello believes by killing her in this manner and by letting her repent her “sins” he is saving her soul and sending her to heaven.

Othello slaps Desdemona because she is not admitting to being unfaithful to him and he is getting increasingly frustrated with her. He feels as though…

When Desdemona hears the news that she will be leaving Cyprus, she expresses her happiness, whereupon Othello strikes her. Othello does so, only to accuse her of being a false and promiscuous woman. He tells Lodovico that he will obey the duke’s orders, commands Desdemona to leave, and storms off.

In a conversation with Othello, Iago says that Cassio has confessed to sex with Desdemona. This revelation is too much for Othello, who becomes incoherent and faints. When Cassio enters, Iago claims that Othello has epilepsy and has had seizures before.

While Emilia reveals the truth, Iago repeatedly orders her to remain silent, but she refuses. In an act of guilt and rage, Iago then stabs and murders Emilia.

How does Desdemona react on her deathbed? She attempts to kill Othello in self-defense. She curses Othello for his behavior. She remains dignified and maintains her faith and love in Othello.

Emilia having heard from Othello that Iago told him of Desdemona “cheating” on him with Cassio, accuses him of gross dishonesty leading to an unjust murder. When she hears about the handkerchief, she reveals her role and Iago threatens and then kills her at the first opportunity.

Why is Othello so tormented? He thinks Desdemona is in love with Cassio. To take care of Cassio.

Roderigo

While Cassio is gone, Iago speaks with Montano, telling him that Cassio is a great soldier, but that he has a terrible drinking problem and may not be able to handle the responsibilities Othello has given him.

Why does Cassio refuse to drink with Iago? He was telling the truth about a man (Roderigo) running and yelling and Cassio chasing him with a sword. And Montano and Cassio fighting.

What is Cassio most upset about losing. Because if Cassio is seen with Desdemona it will be easier to convince Othello that she is cheating. His wife must talk up Cassio and the moor must see the two together.
