Although Rebekah Mikaelson (Claire Holt) was granted her happy ending with Marcel Gerard, the details of her being able to take ‘the cure’ and live a mortal life with Marcel were a little baffling. Fortunately, the show’s creator Julie Plec has explained the timeline to TVLine.

Elijah promises to Hayley that he will always protect her. Their first kiss was in A Closer Walk With Thee, the twentieth episode of the first season. They make love for the first time in episode nine of Season 2 after Hayley tells him that she has to marry Jackson in order to save her pack and Hope.

After an entire season of build up, Elijah and Hayley on The Originals finally shared a kiss in a tender, earned moment filled with chemistry and some of the strongest synergy I’ve seen on screen in a while.
