Explanation: A dynamic character of any literary work is that character that has the most improvement or changes in the whole story. maybe it will be the change from good to bad or vice versa, but as long as the character has a definite change in themselves, then they can be called the/a dynamic character.

A dynamic character is one who learns a lesson or changes as a person (either for better or for worse). Most main characters and major characters in stories are dynamic. Dynamic characters are the opposite of static characters; while dynamic characters change throughout a story, static characters stay the same.

Another excellent example of a dynamic character is Harry Potter.

A character that changes or matures throughout the story due to conflicts/events they encounter on their journey. Throughout the series, Draco became a dynamic character in a way. Yes he was cruel, rude and a bully from the start. But he changed a lot because of the war and it’s effects.

Harry Potter is mainly a static character. Static Character- A character who remains the same throughout a narrative. Static characters do not develop or change beyond the way in which they are first presented. The con will be arguing that he is a dynamic character, he does change.

Snape could be considered static in personality, as he remains in love with Lily and all throughout the entire series. However, him staying the same throughout his life is false, as he starts out as a troubled but good boy, then turned bad through the troubles in his life.

Elsa is also a DYNAMIC character because she does undergo huge personality changes throughout the movie. At the beginning , but Gru’s morals, values, and personality completely change by the end of the movie.

A static character is a character that does not go through any important internal changes throughout the story. Olaf is a static character.

Shrek is a dynamic character, as he changes throughout the movie from a dingy and grumpy ogre who seems to hate the entire world, and would love to spend the rest of his life a lone, into a loving ogre that falls in love with Princess Fiona. He is also a round character with a complex personality.

Aladdin is a dynamic character because he undergoes a permanent change in his outlook. At the end of the movie he accepts himself by saying he can’t keep pretending to somebody he’s not, ridding himself of his insecurity.

Not only is Batman a dynamic character because he changes from a billionaire playboy to a hero, but Spider-man, who we saw as a round character, is also dynamic. Often, flat and static characters go hand in hand.

A round character is deep and layered character in a story. While a round character is a character with a complex personality, a dynamic character is one that changes throughout the course of a story. Hence, a character can be both round (interesting) and dynamic (changed).

A flat character might change over the course of the story in some way and therefore qualify as a “dynamic character” (for instance, the “bully” may discover Buddhism and change his ways) but this doesn’t necessarily make the character any more complex or lifelike—they might just shift from one sort of flat to another …

How to write a dynamic character

1. Develop the essentials first. The first step to writing any character, but especially a dynamic one, is to get their essentials down first.
2. Give them realistic motivations.
3. Add some internal conflict.
4. Use external conflict to show internal struggles.
