A Dyson sphere is a colossal sphere constructed around a star, completely surrounding it. The interior of the sphere would absorb the entire energy output of that star, allowing for lifeforms to live on the interior surface almost indefinitely. ‘Beam me up, Scotty! ‘ was never said in an episode of the TV series Star Trek or in Star Trek movies. The phrase ‘Beam me up, Scotty’ was eventually said by William Shatner, who played Captain Kirk in the TV series, in the audio adaptation of his novel, “Star Trek: The Ashes of Eden.”

Just like when we told you, Sherlock Holmes never said, “Elementary, my dear Watson“, today we’re going to blow your mind by telling that nowhere, in the entirety of the original Star Trek, were the words, “Beam me up, Scotty” ever uttered.

Beam me up, Scotty! Siri plays right along with this Star Trek command, answering, “Please remove your belt, shoes, and jacket, and empty your pockets.”

NBC rejected the show’s original pilot but asked for changes which ultimately became the basis for The Original Series. The reasoning was they found “The Cage” too cerebral and wanted to see a show with more action.

Jeffrey Hunter wasn’t available to do the second pilot (he was pursuing his film career, and some claim his then-wife convinced him science fiction was beneath him; they divorced a couple of years later), so the role was recast with William Shatner and along the way renamed (Christopher Pike became James Kirk).

The out of universe explanation is that the actor for Captain Pike Jeffrey Hunter did not want to continue the series after the pilot was rejected by NBC. As other answers said, the pilot was rejected because it was too slow. Jeffrey Hunter then went to Spain to continue his acting career there.

Captain Christopher “Chris” Pike is a character in the Star Trek science fiction franchise. He is the immediate predecessor to James T. Kirk as captain of the starship USS Enterprise. When this pilot was rejected, Hunter withdrew from the series, and the character of Pike was replaced with Kirk.

Captain PIke is gone from Star Trek: Discovery, but he’s never forgotten, and a new character in season 3 is an homage to Pike’s ultimate fate.

Discovery and CBS’s new Star Trek series have left Captain Kirk behind. Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) seems to have no legacy in Star Trek: Discovery’s distant future and there are unfortunate reasons why the original Captain of the Starship Enterprise has been ignored by CBS All-Access’ Star Trek series.
