Perspective drawing is a technique used to depict spatial depth, or perspective. In other words, it allows you to accurately draw a three dimensional object onto a two dimensional plane. There are typically three types of perspective drawing: one-point perspective, two-point perspective, and three-point perspective.

In terms of perspective in art, it is a technique for creating the illusion of depth and space (three dimensions) on a flat surface. Perspective is what makes a work of art appear to have form, dimension, distance, and space. In other words, it makes the work of art look realistic.

The elements of art are color, form, line, shape, space, and texture. The principles of art are scale, proportion, unity, variety, rhythm, mass, shape, space, balance, volume, perspective, and depth.

Line: A very important Element of Art is “Line”. Imagine a work of art with no use of lines. Whether it is a drawing, painting, or sculpture, lines are important. They help form shapes, and also can communicate an idea or feeling.

There are 5 main types of lines in art: vertical lines, horizontal lines, diagonal lines, zigzag lines, and curved lines. Other types of lines are simply variations of the five main ones.

There are five basic kinds of lines: Curved, Vertical, Horizontal, Zigzag and Diagonal. Curved lines change direction gradually to form curves, spiral and circles.

Elements of art are stylistic features that are included within an art piece to help the artist communicate. The seven most common elements include line, shape, texture, form, space, colour and value, with the additions of mark making, and materiality.

Positive space refers to the subject or areas of interest in an artwork, such as a person’s face or figure in a portrait, the objects in a still life painting, or the trees in a landscape painting. Negative space is the background or the area that surrounds the subject of the work.

Simply put, positive space is best described as the areas in a work of art that are the subjects, or areas of interest. Negative space is area around the subjects, or areas of interest. If you are seeing faces, then you are seeing the black areas as the positive space, and the white area as the negative space.

Space
