1. Open Visio and select the Organization Chart template from the Business category.
2. Drag and drop the top-level shape onto the drawing page. This represents the highest position in your organization, such as the CEO or president.
3. To add a subordinate, drag and drop a shape below the top-level shape and connect them with a connector line. You can also use the Insert Subordinate button on the ribbon to add a shape automatically.
4. To add a co-worker, drag and drop a shape next to an existing shape and connect them with a connector line. You can also use the Insert Co-worker button on the ribbon to add a shape automatically.
5. To add an assistant, drag and drop a shape with a dotted border below an existing shape and connect them with a connector line. You can also use the Insert Assistant button on the ribbon to add a shape automatically.
6. To edit the text on a shape, double-click on it and type the name and title of the person. You can also use the Shape Data window to enter additional information, such as department, phone number, or email address.
7. To format the shapes and connectors, use the options on the Home and Design tabs on the ribbon. You can change the color, size, layout, and style of your organization chart.
