A vector image made with Path or Shape can reduce the file size and has the advantage of being able to cope with any document size without degradation. However, making complex artwork with Path or Shape requires both techniques and time. For example, you can easily make Path or Shape from the selection obtained with /”Threshold/” so you can achieve smooth pure black and white conversion without jaggies.
