This arrived in a Trifo branded box with a lift top lid, once opened you are presented with a circular manual and a novelty pair of cut out glasses, these can sit on the top of the vacuum making it look like a face much to my youngest daughters amusement and I would say actually achieving the purpose of giving the vacuum a personality as she started referring to the vacuum as Max or him.
First impressions: the vacuum was tightly packed and secured into bespoke cardboard moulding and is quite a heavy unit which I don’t see as a bad thing indicating to me good solid strong components along with a high capacity battery and being heavy it’s better at holding the ground and not bumping over a carpet or rug missing areas. The build quality looks very good with excellent finishing in all areas; this does not come with any spare filters or a replacement claw brush which I found disappointing as they will need changing at some point.
Once I had unpacked everything and put the vacuum on charge I grabbed the Trifo app and went through the setup, this is fairly straight forward also having an on screen prompt and tutorial, I tested out the surveillance camera and motion detection which works very well giving alerts on movement although with the camera being at floor level pointing up the picture quality and clarity is limited, the sound quality is acceptable both ends.
The Trifo works well with the vacuum tracking and mapping the areas it has cleaned, I did however think the main screen options somewhat limited to manual movement and setting the power of the vacuum with no options for different types of cleaning such as an edge setting, the cleaning schedule settings work well without being overly complex or complicated to set.
Performance is really where this vacuum shines, I found it does a superb job of cleaning round the house with an excellent pickup, I find I use the higher vacuum setting which really gets to grips with dirt and dust but as a trade off reduces the run time by nearly half although that is still over a hours running before it will return to the charge station. I was a bit dubious of how the claw brush would work but it is actually very effective at scooping out bits from the edges into the path of the main vacuum. Emptying and cleaning the brushes is very easy with the main brush coming out simply by releasing two holding catches and the main dust collection unit releasing on the push of a button.
Overall this is a very powerful and effective vacuum, the motion detect camera surveillance works very well, it can be linked to Alexa although it is limited to starting and stopping the vacuum, it’s easy to empty and clean the brushes, the claw brush works very well along edges, it has a good battery life even reasonable at the highest power level. For me the down sides of the Trifo are limited cleaning options on the Trifo app although these can be increased or changed with app updates and no doubt will be at some point, no replacement brushes or filters and I would have liked it to have a remote control as a backup or alternative. I have slightly mixed feelings over the Trifo vacuum but really as a bottom line it performs extremely well and the motion detection surveillance works as it should and gives instant notification.
