This is a tip on the best format option to use for a hard drive that is shared with both Windows and Mac OS computers.

The short version is the best file system is exFAT.

exFAT can be read from, and written to, using both Mac OS and Windows without needing to install any third-party software.
In my experience there can be some issues when using third-party solutions.
