Smartsheet dashboards are a great way to get clear on essential project information. One of the quickest ways to bring real value to those dashboards is by adding a chart to capture up-to-date project data.

But like many things in Smartsheet, there are a few different ways to create a chart for your work!

Join Kelly in this quick demonstration of two different ways to create a chart. In this video, you’ll learn how to source a chart from a report and from a metrics sheet in Smartsheet.

To add charts to a dashboard in Smartsheet, you’ll first need to create the charts using the data in your sheets. Then, you can add these charts to your dashboard. Here’s a step-by-step tutorial:

Prepare Your Data:
Ensure that you have the data you want to visualize in your Smartsheet sheets. This data could be in the form of tables, lists, or other structured formats.

Create Charts:

Navigate to the sheet containing the data you want to visualize.
Select the range of data you want to include in your chart.
Click on the /”Insert/” menu at the top and choose the type of chart you want to create (e.g., Bar Chart, Pie Chart, Line Chart, etc.).
Configure the settings for your chart, such as selecting the type of chart, specifying the data range, and customizing the chart style and labels.
Once you’re satisfied with the chart settings, click /”Insert/” to add the chart to your sheet.
Organize Your Dashboard:

Navigate to the dashboard where you want to add the charts.
Click on the /”+/” icon or the /”Add Widget/” button to add a new widget to your dashboard.
Choose the /”Chart/” widget option from the list of available widgets.
Select Your Chart:

In the /”Chart/” widget configuration panel, select the chart you want to add from the dropdown menu.
Adjust the size and position of the chart widget on your dashboard as needed.
Customize Dashboard Settings:

Depending on the dashboard settings, you may have options to customize the appearance and behavior of your chart widget, such as the refresh interval, data source, and display options.
Save Your Dashboard:

Once you’ve added the charts to your dashboard and customized the settings, click /”Save/” to save your changes.
View Your Dashboard:

After saving your dashboard, you can view it by navigating to the dashboard section of Smartsheet. Your charts will now be displayed along with any other widgets you’ve added to the dashboard.
That’s it! You’ve successfully added charts to a dashboard in Smartsheet. You can continue to refine and customize your dashboard by adding additional charts, tables, and other widgets to suit your needs.
