This video goes through the steps needed to setup a simple development environment using win-bash and Notepad++ as a script editor. (The actual step by step Notepad++ install process is not shown.)

Win-bash is an implementation of bash 1.14.2 for Windows.While limited for advanced script developers, it is perfect for beginners. Check out the information page to see whether win-bash is right for you. Check out Cygwin for a more advanced solution.

If you have Windows 10, and installed the Anniversary Update then bash is directly supported. Search for windows 10 bash for lots of videos covering this topic. This video is for users with Windows 7 and beyond, but before the Anniversary Update.
