If you’re not having any luck connecting to your remote computer from your local desktop, you came to the right place. I’ll be showing you a few things to check in your local machine and youor remote computer.

Lets start…

From Local Machine.
1) Able to ping
a) Win + R (to launch command prompt) and launch /”cmd/”
b) ping the remove machine.

In remote machine.
1) Enable RDP
a) Win + R (to launch command prompt) and launch /”sysdm.cpl/”
b) Remote tab
c) check /”Allow remote connection to this computer/”.
2) Enable RDP Port in Windows Firewall (3389)
a) Win + R (to launch command prompt) and launch /”wf.msc/”.
b) Inbound Rules
c) Ensure that these rules are in place for Local Port
* Remote Desktop – shadow (TCP-In) with /”Any/” port number.
* Remote Desktop – User Mode (TCP-In) with port 3389.
* Remote Desktop – User Mode (UDP-In) with port 3389.
3) Ethernet Is Public Facing
a) Windows Setting
b) Network and internet
c) Ethernet
d) Public radio button
4) Network sharing profile
a) Win + R (to launch command prompt) and launch /”ncpa.cpl/”
b) Network and Internet
c) Network and Sharing Center
d) Change advanced sharing settings
e) Turn on network discover and file and printer sharing.
