The RDP error code 0x104 is an error message that appears when using Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) on a Windows computer. It indicates that there is an issue with the RDP protocol, which is preventing the connection from being established. This error can be caused by various factors, including network configuration, firewall settings, Remote Desktop licensing issues, outdated RDP client software, or incorrect security settings. To resolve the issue, it may be necessary to troubleshoot the problem by following various steps such as restarting Remote Desktop Services, updating the RDP client, checking network settings, or disabling firewall and VPN software.
This is how you resolve it.
Enable RDP Port in Windows Firewall (3389) in remote machine.
a) Win + R (to launch command prompt) and launch /”wf.msc/”.
b) Inbound Rules
c) Ensure that these rules are in place for Local Port
* Remote Desktop – Shadow (TCP-In) with /”Any/” port number.
* Remote Desktop – User Mode (TCP-In) with port 3389.
* Remote Desktop – User Mode (UDP-In) with port 3389.
Once that is done, restart your window and try connecting to your remote machine again.
If this solution does not work for you, I have another detailed video on how you can debug your remote desktop issue.
