Lisa Gade reviews OWC’s (Other World Computing) USB-C Dock for the 12” Apple MaBook. The $159 dock has HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, 3.5mm combo audio, an SD card slot, 4 USB 3.1 (type A) ports and a USB-C port. We also test it with the Dell XPS 13, XPS 15, Lenovo Yoga 900 and Microsoft Lumia phones, all with USB-C ports. Lisa also tests Monoprice’s USB-C to DisplayPort adapter, the Lumsing USB-C to HDMI adapter, a Cables Matter USB-C to DisplayPort cable and Dell’s USB-C to Ethernet/HDMI/VGA/USB 3 adapter. We cover the difference between USB-C (it’s a connector type not a data transfer standard), USB 3.0, USB 3.1 Gen 1, USB 3.1 Gen 2 and Thunderbolt 3.
