Swashbuckle which uses the Swagger UI has been dropped from the ASP.NET Core Web API template in .NET 9. That means there is no UI to test your Web API endpoints when creating a new project. Instead, it’s been replaced with OpenAPI documentation with no testing functionality.

We’ll have a look at the alternatives to Swashbuckle such as NSwag, Scalar and Postman to see if there is a better one. And we’ll investigate whether there is a way to add Swashbuckle back in?

With the release of .NET 9, you might have noticed that Swagger Gen is no longer included by default in web API templates. This means that when you create a new .NET 9 WebAPI, you no longer have the fancy green Swagger UI to test your API Endpoints.
