When you know the values for two or more sides of a triangle, you can use the law of cosines. In the following case, you know all three sides (which is called SSS, or side-side-side, in trigonometry) but none of the angles.

The law of cosines is useful for computing the third side of a triangle when two sides and their enclosed angle are known, and in computing the angles of a triangle if all three sides are known.

If the size of only one of the angles is needed, use the Law of Cosines. ASA: If two angles and the included side of a triangle are known, first subtract these angle measures from 180° to find the third angle. Next, use the Law of Sines to set up proportions to find the lengths of the two missing sides.

In a right triangle, the cosine of an angle is the length of the adjacent side (A) divided by the length of the hypotenuse (H). In any right triangle, the cosine of an angle is the length of the adjacent side (A) divided by the length of the hypotenuse (H). In a formula, it is written simply as ‘cos’.

Div. Current wisdom tells us that all sin is equal in the eyes of God. Yet those of us who hold a Christian Worldview stubbornly turn to the Bible for insight into any topic.
