In this Excel Function Explained video series, I will explain, how to use the Rand function in excel. It is used to Create random number between 0 to 1 in excel. Using Rand function, you’ll be able to return random number. You can also convert the value to Percentage and get random percentages
Let’s learn how to use Rand formula in excel.
The Function looks like this = Rand ()
It has now parameters and really easy to use.
There are a few things you should remember whenever you use the rand function.
1. You need to convert the formula result into values because every time the worksheet changes the formula results changes as well. Here is how to do it:

2. If you want to apply the formula to a range of cell, you need to select the data range. Then write the formula without clicking anywhere. When you’ve written the formula press Ctrl + Enter
Now the formula will generate random number within 0 to 1. This is how we use Rand Function in excel. Remember, using Rand function in excel you actually tell excel formula to return a random between 0 to 1
