How to use Flash Fill in Excel – Office 365. Using flash fill can save a lot of typing if the correct pattern is entered in to first couple of rows. Flash fill can be used to retrieve a numeric value from a text field or split a text filed in to multiple columns if there is a consistent pattern for the data. It can also be used to combine the text from multiple columns in to a single column if the pattern is consistent.
