In this video I show you how to update NVIDIA graphics card drivers. You can update your NVIDIA drivers using the NVIDIA app, or by manually downloading the driver. Typically, you will want to use the NVIDIA app as it will automatically detect what GPU you have. This means you will only get suggested the correct drivers for your graphics card.

When you install the NVIDIA app you will be asked what type of drivers you would like to use. The two options are Studio Drivers and Game Ready Drivers. If you play games then you will typically want to select Game Ready. These drivers are released more often to ensure your graphics card driver is suitable for newly released games. However, Studio Drivers are typically more reliable builds and are often better for artists and creatives.

If a new NVIDIA driver is available it will appear at the top of the Drivers page. You can update your NVIDIA graphics card drives by clicking the download button on the driver, then by choosing to install.

When choosing to install new drivers for your graphics card you will have a choice between Express Installation and Custom Installation. While using a custom installation can be beneficial, in most cases you will want to use the express installation.

Typically, new NVIDIA drivers will automatically appear at the top once they become available. However, you can click the refresh button to ensure the newest driver appears. If there aren’t any driver updates for your graphics card then the download button will be replaced with text that says /”REINSTALL/”. In cases where you don’t see a download button, and instead only see the reinstall option, then you most likely have the newest NVIDIA driver.

Alternatively, you can also manually update NVIDIA graphics card drivers. However, this requires you to manually input your graphics card information to ensure you get the correct driver. Because of this it is typically best to use the NVIDIA app to update your graphics card drivers. Additionally, the NVIDIA app also has other features which you may find useful.
