First, close any Avast-related programs running in the background. Right-click on the Avast icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner of your desktop), and choose ‘Exit’ or ‘Quarantine’ to shut down active processes. This step is essential to avoid interruptions during uninstallation.
Next, open the Control Panel. To do this, type ‘Control Panel’ in the Windows search bar and click on it. In the Control Panel, navigate to ‘Programs,’ then select ‘Uninstall a Program.’ Locate the Avast Antivirus application in the list of installed programs. If Avast Secure Browser or other Avast apps are installed, identify those as well.
Select Avast Antivirus first and click ‘Uninstall.’ When prompted for administrative access, click ‘Yes.’ Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation process. Repeat the same steps for Avast Secure Browser or any other Avast-related apps.
After uninstalling, restart your computer to ensure all components are fully removed. If any residual files remain, consider using the Avast Uninstall Utility available from Avast’s official website for a deeper cleanup.
