The first thing you need to do is enable dark mode in your Google Chrome header area. Let’s walk through the steps to do that.

Step 1. Open Google Chrome on your computer.

Step 2. Click the vertical ellipses next to the address bar at the top of the screen to open a menu, and then click /”Settings/” in this menu. Your Google Chrome settings screen opens.

Step 3. Select /”Appearance/” in the menu on the left side of the screen. Google Chrome appearance options are displayed on the right side of the screen.

Step 4. Find Theme in the Appearance section, and then click the link box next to Theme. A sidebar with Google Chrome theme options opens.

Step 5. Click to select /”Dark/” at the top of this menu. The Dark Mode theme will instantly be applied to your Google Chrome web browser. You can navigate back to this screen at any time if you want to switch back to the light theme.

Now let’s walk through the steps to make all of the sites you visit display in dark mode as well.

Step 1. With Google Chrome open, type Chrome://flags into your address bar, and then click /”Enter./” You’ll land on the Google Chrome experiments page.

Step 2. Type /”dark mode/” in the search box at the top of this page, and then look for Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents in the Available list.

Step 3. Click to open the drop-down menu next to Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents, and then choose /”Enabled./” After doing this, click /”Relaunch/” to close and then re-open Google Chrome with the new settings applied. Going forward, all of the websites you visit in the Google Chrome web browser will have the dark mode theme applied to them.
