If you find the Recommended section unnecessary or distracting, you can easily disable it using the Settings app. In this video tutorial, we’ll guide you through the steps to stop showing suggested files and apps in the Recommended section of the Start menu:
Step 01: Open Settings: Begin by opening the Settings app. You can do this by clicking on the Start button and selecting the Settings icon from the left sidebar.
Step 02: Access Personalization Settings: Within the Settings app, click on the /”Personalization/” option.
Step 03: Navigate to Start Settings: On the right side of the Personalization menu, locate and click on the /”Start/” page.
Step 04: Disable Recommended Suggestions: Under the Start settings, you’ll find two toggle switches:
Show recently added apps: Toggle this switch off to stop displaying recently added apps in the Recommended section.
Show recently opened items in Start, Jump Lists, and File Explorer: Toggle this switch off to prevent recently opened items from appearing in the Recommended section.
Once you’ve completed these steps, the next time you open the Start menu, the Recommended section will no longer display suggestions of apps or files. Please note that on Windows 11, you cannot remove the /”Recommended/” section entirely to use the space for additional pins.
