▶ About this video: This video tutorial shows you how to remove the names shown in the Author, Last Modified and Last Saved By sections inside the Info page in Microsoft Word as well as the document’s details in a file manager like Window’s Explorer.
To remove these details in bulk (i.e. from multiple Word documents) please check my other video here: https://youtu.be/Ml4SCIACbeI
Doing this is especially useful if you care about your privacy or don’t want to reveal your names when sharing a Word document publicly, such as online.
The video covers steps on how to accomplish this in the Windows versions of MS Word 2010 and later (2013, 2016) and Word 2007. Word 2003 doesn’t have the inspect document feature, so it’s not covered in this tutorial.
This works by using the Inspect Document tool, which identifies and removes all personal information and other hidden metadata included in a document’s properties.
