What’s going on YouTube? In this tutorial, I show you how to open Microsoft Excel in safe mode. Save mode is like normal excel but it is stripped down so macros or addons run whenever you open the file. This allows you to troubleshoot a troubled excel file. A great use case for this, is when one time I had a macro that would clear everything in a workbook that ran whoever the file was opened. This was great whenever the intended user opened the excel sheet, but whenever I went to open the sheet it cleared the information that I needed. To solve the issue, I opened excel in safe mode, bypassed the macro, got the info that I needed, then went on to fix the error. In this video, I show you two methods. The first is to go to windows start, type in /”run/” then type /”excel /safe/” in the prompt then press enter. The other is to hold down the control key for a few seconds, then click on the excel icon in your task bar to open excel in safe mode.
