The term freeze pane in excel indicates your row, column or sometimes both stay visible and in the same place whether you scroll or not. Usually, in general settings, we can see 21 rows and 21 columns in our display. It depends on your display size, row/column size also whether your worksheet is zoomed in or out. Now if I scroll down 1 row then I can see from Row 2 to 22. I can’t see the first row unless I scroll up. Same goes for column if we scroll right.
Sometimes we need to always keep the first-row visible meaning if I scroll down the first row stays visible and the scrolling starts from row 2 to 21. It helps you keep the header always visible. I’ve already showed how to do that. Check this video: https://youtu.be/Q6yypL-nHoE
Again, sometimes we need to keep the first column visible. I’ve created a tutorial on that also. Here is it: https://youtu.be/MZnnI29uivU
Now what if you need to freeze multiple rows and columns at the same time? Well, that can be done. If you follow the steps below, you’ll be able to freeze multiple columns & multiple rows in excel. You’ll also learn how to freeze top row and first column in excel. On the top of it you’ll learn how to freeze selected rows or column in excel. Without further ado let’s follow the steps below.
Step 1: Click on a cell (Rows above this cell and Columns before this cell will be freeze)
Step 2: Click on View Tab
Step 3: Click on “Freeze Pane” and from the menu select “Freeze Pane”
Done.
You just freeze rows and columns at once. This could be multiple rows, multiple columns or both. If you need to stop scrolling in excel you can check this video: https://youtu.be/AqFgpUBG36w
