Although this system file doesn’t use up much CPU, several Windows 10 users have encountered the Windows Explorer high CPU usage issue. The various reasons why Windows Explorer uses high CPU include: Shortcuts without icons, Quick access consumes a lot of system resources, Outdated Windows build, Corrupted files, The paging file is not enabled, and Third party apps.

Restore your power plan settings to default:
1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Go to Hardware and Sound Power Options. Or type Power Options in the Control Panel search bar and select the desired option.
3. Select your Power Plan and click on the Change plan settings link.
4. Now, click on the Change advanced power plan settings link.
5. The Power Options window will appear. Click Restore power defaults.
6. Click Apply and then click OK.

Set your PC to the best performance:
1. Click on Windows Search and type advanced system settings.
2. Now, select View Advanced System Settings from the search results.
3. The System Properties window will appear. Under the Advanced tab, click Settings in the Performance section.
4. Under the Visual Effects tab, select the Adjust for best performance option.
5. Click Apply and then click OK.
