1) Temporary solution
A temporary solution for the error is to copy the hyperlink and open it in your browser. To do this, you will right-click on the link, select copy hyperlink and paste it in your internet browser. This solution is temporary since you will have to repeat the process every time you want to open a hyperlink.

I have three possible solutions to help you fix this error and I will take you through each of them one by one.

First solution
You will need to open the registry editor.
1)To do this, press the Windows and R buttons at the same time to open Run.
2) When the Run dialog box pops up, type Regedit and click on OK. This will open the Registry Editor.
3) When the Registry Editor opens, search for the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT folder and expand it by clicking on the arrow on the left side.
4) In the list of folders that appears, look for the .html folder and click on it.
5) Double-click on the Default file from the list that appears on the right-hand side of the window.
6) Set the Value Data to htmlfile and click on OK. This should have fixed the problem.
7) If your computer has already set the Value Data to htmlfile, it means that the issue is somewhere else and we will have to try another method to rectify the problem.
8) Open any Microsoft Office product and click on a hyperlink to confirm that the problem has been rectified.

Second solution
1) Go to the control panel and open Programs and Features.
2) Click on Turn on Windows features on and off, and from the list of features look for Internet Explorer.
3) Tick on the box that appears next to it and then click on Apply or OK.
4) If the box is already ticked, you will then have to try the third option to help solve your issue.

Third solution
1) Search for Apps and Features in the search box next to the Start Menu and open it.
2) On the list on the left-hand side of the window, click on default apps.
3) On the E-mail default apps and choose Outlook.
4) This will set Outlook as your default E-mail app and solve your hyperlink problem.
5) Similarly, you can follow the same steps but set Microsoft Edge as your default web browser.

I believe that one of these solutions has helped solve the hyperlink problem you have been experiencing and you will continue working smoothly on Microsoft Office.
