The ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED issue happens when the Domain Name System (DNS) fails to locate a website’s IP address.
First, check the domain name on Hostinger’s WHOIS database to make sure that it has not expired or been suspended: https://www.hostinger.com/whois.
Now, let’s learn six methods to fix ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED:
Flush DNS Cache on Your Device
An outdated cache is one of the most common causes of the ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED issue. So, clearing your operating system’s DNS cache can help fix this issue.
Check Google Chrome Browser Settings
Type chrome://net-internals/#dns on Google Chrome’s address bar to clear the host cache. Also, make sure to remove the browser cookies regularly. Another Google Chrome feature worth looking at is the page preloading service. Watch this video for a step-by-step guide.
Reset your DNS Server Addresses
If your DNS server is not working properly, then the DNS query cannot be resolved when you try to visit a website. Select one of the DNS server addresses from Google or Cloudflare’s public servers to fix this issue.
Public DNS servers:
Google 8.8.8.8 – 2001:4860:4860::8888
Google 8.8.4.4 – 2001:4860:4860::8844
Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 – 2606:4700:4700::1111
Cloudflare 1.0.0.1 – 2606:4700:4700::1001
Try Amending Your Hosts File
Adding the website’s IP address to the host’s file can solve DNS-related browsing errors. This method is also helpful for identifying the cause of the issue.
This video demonstrates how to do it using the Nano Editor. To run it as an administrator, add the following code:
sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
Try Using a Different Internet Connection
Another reason for the ERR NAME NOT RESOLVED error is a problem with your internet connection or WiFi network. Try to re-access the webpage using a steadier internet connection.
Disable DNSSEC for Your Domain
Check the domain’s WHOIS to verify if the DNSSEC (DNS Security Extensions) is enabled. Even though it provides an additional layer of security by using cryptographic signatures, it can also prevent the domain from propagating properly.
Disable DNSSEC if the website showing the ERR NAME NOT RESOLVED issue is yours.
