How to calculate Standard Deviation
To measure the dispersion of a data set-related mean, we use Standard deviation. This is calculated as the square root. Let’s see the steps to find the standard deviation in Microsoft Excel.

1. Open Microsoft Excel.

2. Press the Control + N keys on your keyboard to create a Blank Workbook.

3. Let’s Enter some data details and the values for which we want to find the standard deviation.

4. In the third column C, type the formula of standard deviation.

1. If you want to find the standard deviation for population then type formula =STDEV.P open parenthesis and Add your value range and then close parenthesis.

5. In this video, we will find the sample standard deviation. Like here, I am typing =STDEV and selecting the STDEV.S from the suggested formulas list.
6. Now, click on the Column B2 cell to select it and drag the selection point down till the last cell of our data.
7. Click on the Tick mark in the formula bar, and this will provide the standard deviation of our selected cells.
