In today’s video I’m going to show you how to download and update your audio driver on your Windows 10 or 11 computers with the Realtek HD Audio Driver.

Updating your audio driver is important if you’re having issues with sound on your computer, or your audio driver is outdated, and you would like the latest audio driver.

*What is the Realtek HD Audio Codec?*
The Realtek HD Audio Codec is a software driver and set of codecs developed by Realtek Semiconductor Corp. It facilitates high-definition audio playback and recording on computers equipped with Realtek audio chips, commonly integrated into motherboards.

This driver allows the operating system (like Windows) to communicate with the audio hardware, ensuring that sound quality is optimal and that audio features work correctly.

*To get started:*
1. Open up your web browser, and type in /”Realtek audio driver/” into google, then hit the enter key on your keyboard.
2. Several websites will appear in the search results. Make sure you click on the one from realtek.com, with the title of “PC Audio Codecs – High Definition Audio Codecs Software”.
3. Once you get to their website, you’ll be presented with a list of audio codecs.
4. You’ll want to select the one with the most recent date, and includes “driver only (ZIP file)” in the title.
5. Now click on the download icon.
6. You’ll now be taken to a terms and conditions page. Check the acceptance box, and then click on the “Download this file” button.
7. You’ll now be taken to this captcha code page. This ensures that you’re a human and not a robot.
8. Enter the captcha code, and click on the “Submit” button.
9. Your download will now begin.
10. Please note, because this is a fairly large file, it can take a few minutes to download.
11. Once the download has completed, open up your downloads folder.
12. As you can see, I now have a file called “Win7_Win8_Win81_Win10_R283”.
13. Because it’s a zip file we need to unzip the file to extract its contents to begin the install.
14. To do this, right click on the file, and click on the “Extract all” option from the context menu.
15. A dialog window will now appear, displaying the destination for where the files will be extracted to. By default it’s the same destination of where the zip file is currently located, which is my downloads folder.
16. I’m now going to click “Next”.
17. The files will now be unzipped, and a new dialog window will open up with the extracted files.
18. Double click on the “Win7_Win8_Win81_Win10_R283” folder.
19. Scroll down, and double click on the “Setup” file.
20. The Realtek HD Audio Driver installer will now run.
21. Click on the “Next” button.
22. Now that the installation has complete, you’ll want to restart your computer for the updates to take effect.

And it’s as easy as that, downloading and installing the latest Realtek HD Audio Driver on Windows 10 and 11 is a fairly simple task to perform.
