You are asking yourself how to do a hanging indent in Word? That’s quite easy! In this tutorial I am going to show you how to do a hanging indent and I am going to teach you the necessary shortcuts.

Procedure:
To create a hanging indent, we first need to mark the paragraphs that should have an indent. Then we simply need to press /”CTRL + T/” on our keyboard and the hanging indent will be created. We can use the keyboard shortcut multiple times to make the indent bigger. If we want to make the indent smaller again, we just need to press /”CTRL + SHIFT + T/”.

Why all that?
When we insert a references page in our Word document every line after the first line of a reference must have an indent. Sometimes this is not done automatically by Word and therefore we need to know how to indent the second line in Word manually.

This tutorial for a #hanging #indent in #Word should work for Word 2007, Word 2010, Word 2013, Word 2016, Word 2019 and also Office 365. This also works with Microsoft Office on a Mac and also with open source software such as OpenOffice or LibreOffice.
