Steps to Disable Windows Group By Feature: 0:34

Video Transcript:
With the rollout of Windows 10 version 1903, Microsoft is using the Group By feature to automatically organize the files in some of your folders by the date they were modified. If you’re not a fan of having your Windows files grouped without your permission and you want to get back simply having your files displayed in a single, simple list, you can disable the Windows Group By feature quickly.

Now let’s walk through the steps to turn off the Windows Group By feature in your file folders.

Step 1. Navigate to the Windows Explorer folder where your files are currently grouped by date or some other option. In this example, I’ll go into my downloads folder.

Step 2. Find an area with some open space inside of this folder, and then right click to open a context menu.

Step 3. Click to expand the Group By option in the context menu, and then click /”None/” in the context menu. You’ll return to your folder, where you’ll now see that file grouping has been removed and you’re back to the single list of files that you’re used to.

You can go back to grouping your files in a Windows Explorer folder at any time by right-clicking inside of the folder, clicking /”Group By,/” and then choosing any of the file grouping options in the menu, such as Name, Date Modified, Type and Size.
