In my opinion, there are three main reasons to use Named Ranges in Excel Formulas:
1) They are easier to write – especially when range of cells is large
2) They are easier to remember – e.g. Gross Profit = Sales minus Costs
3) They are easier to explain to others – see example for point #2

In this lesson, I demonstrate two ways to create a Named Range. The first is to use the /”Name Box/” in all versions of Excel. The second is to Create a Named Range from Selection.
In my next lesson, I will show you how to modify named ranges and also how to apply named ranges to existing formulas.
