In this quick excel tutorial I’ll show you how to create an excel data validation dropdown list with named range. This is the stepping stone of dependent dropdown list. If you want to learn how to create a dependent dropdown list then you must learn to create data validation drop down list from named ranges.

Now that you’ve Learned to create dropdown list and named range lets learn how you can you them together. One of the greatest features of named ranges is you can add it to the dropdown list. In this tutorial I’ll show you how. Follow the instructions below.
Step 1: Create a named range from the data range you want inside your drop down list.
Step 2: Select the Cell or range where you want to place the dropdown list.
Step 3: Click on Data Tab and then Data Validation.
Step 4: Select “List” from the validation criteria Allow Drop Down
Step 5: In the range box write = and then the Name of your named range
Step 6: Click ok and done.
Done. You’ve just created a Dropdown list using the named range
