To count the characters for a text string in Microsoft Excel, we’re going to show you how to use LEN and CHR

Formula explained:
LEN: Means that the formula returns the number of characters in a text string formula syntax.
CHR: Returns the character based on the ASCII value
&: Because it connects two values

Step 1: Select the cell in which you’d like the characters to display
Step 2: Type in /”=LEN(/”
Step 3: Select the cell that you’d like to count characters for
Step 4: Type /”& /”Chr/”
Step 5: Hit enter!

So your formula will look something like this:

=LEN(B3) & /”Chr/”
