WordPress database is where all of the necessary website data is stored. Not just the basic information like usernames and passwords but posts, pages and comments, even the website theme and WordPress configuration settings.
To access the login page click on “Open phpMyAdmin.” You can then enter in your database username and password on the WordPress phpMyAdmin login page. You can then click on your WordPress database and run queries, drop tables, import data, export your database for WordPress, etc.
What does mean “clean my database”?
As you use WordPress, your database accumulates a lot of extra data such as revisions, spam comments, trashed comments, etc. Removing this unnecessary data will reduce your database size, speeds up your backup process and speeds up your site also is called wordpress database cleanup. Before cleanup database you must have your wordpress database backup safe with you.
For WordPress database cleanup there are very good plugins available but we discussed in this video only 2 WordPress plugins for database cleanup which are easy to use.
Data cleansing or data cleaning is the process of detecting and correcting (or removing) corrupt or inaccurate records from a record set, table, or database and refers to identifying incomplete, incorrect, inaccurate or irrelevant parts of the data and then replacing, modifying, or deleting the dirty or coarse data.
Start by making a backup of your site should something go wrong. Then install and activate the plugin. Go to Tools, Sweep to clean up your WordPress database. The plugin will show you items that can be removed and when you click sweep it will clean them up.
By this process of database cleanup you can improve your site performance as well.
