All of us used borders in excel. Adding borders in excel is quite simple. Select the cell/cells you want to put borders on. Under the home tab within the font group, you’ll find borders. From there you can select all borders in excel. But this system has a flow. You can’t make it dynamic. For example, you want to enter data and the borders will be placed automatically. Though we can achieve that with table but that’s not the proper use of borders. Also, when you print your worksheet borders makes your data easily readable.
In this tutorial, I’ll create a dynamic formatting that will allow excel add border if cell contains text. Yes, whenever you write something, excel will apply borders automatically around your cells.
Now without further ado lets follow the instruction below to apply cell borders automatically in excel.
Step 1: Select the entire range you might or might not be using.
Step 2: Click on “Conditional Formatting”
Step 3: Click on “New Rule”
Step 4: Click on “Select Formula to Determine Which Cell to Format”
Step 5: Write this Formula
Step 6: Now Click on Format
Step 7: Go to Border and Select Outline.
Step 8: Click ok and ok again.
Done. Now whenever you write something conditional formatting will add borders automatically for you. This will create a dynamic border for you and you won’t need to insert border manually again.
