The setting of The Outsiders affects the plot because the story is set in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1965. The real rivalry between greasers and Socs in American cities in the 1960s is pivotal to the plot. Ponyboy and Johnny meet Cherry and Marcia, two Soc girls, at a drive-in. The rumble in The Outsiders is the climax.

What do we learn was so special about Johnny (p,178)? Johnny was special because he still believed there was good in the world after all he had gone through. What does Ponyboy end up doing for his English assignment? He ends up writing about his Johnny, Dally and his life as a greaser.

Point of view: This story is told in first person point of view. Students can easily identify that the narrator is also a central character in the story because he uses the pronoun “I.” Narrator: the person who conveys the action of and often provides commentary about the story.

The basic conflict between these two groups comes from the fact that they are from very different backgrounds. The Greasers are the poor or lower middle class kids from the “wrong side of the tracks.” The Socs are the rich kids with the nice cars and clothes.

Johnny likes it better when his father is hitting him because his father knows hes there and isn’t pretending that he isn’t. when johnny leaves its like he doesn’t even exsist in his family and he feels left out, forgotten, outcasted.

Jack’s conscience finally overpowers the El Coco in his head and he lets himself get bit by a rattlesnake. He then commits suicide via his rifle, but not before telling Ralph, Holly, Yunis Sablo (Yul Vazquez), and Claude Bolton (Paddy Considine), “It’s in there. Kill it.”

The Outsider appears in The Outsider novel and TV adaption. The monster is a shape-shifting creature that feeds on people’s pain, sorrows and fears. Stephen King fans may already be familiar with the dark void between worlds known as “Todash space” or the Macroverse.

But the more interesting difference within the story comes with the actual circumstance of Terry’s death. When he’s shot in the neck in the book, that’s not the lethal wound—it’s a later shot to his gut that does him in. As Ralph observes the wound, he jumps into action and offers Terry the chance to confess.

When Holly said, “Who’s Terry?”, it could have been a sign that she was possessed by El Coco and/or symptomatic of the way her brain can see some details and overlook others. It could just be she’s been so wrapped up in El Coco that she forgot all about Terry Maitland.
