You just have to adjust the security settings on the printer to do that. Just to to Devices and Printers, right click on the unit, go to Printer Properties and under the “Security” tab you can restrict users on the same network.

You can hide Devices and Printers from Control Panel using the supported GPO and then create a folder to view Printers only. To do this, use the policy “Hide specified control panel items” to remove the Devices and Printers item from the Control Panel window: Edit a GPO.

Simply press the Windows key + R shortcut to bring up the Run dialog, or open the Command Prompt. Type control printers and press Enter. The Devices and Printers window will open immediately.

Click the Start button and then click on Devices and Printers. Alternatively, type device in the Start Search box and press Enter or click on Devices and Printers. The Devices and Printers folder will open.

How to Run a Printer As Administrator

1. Click Start and select “Devices and Printers.”
2. Double-click the icon for the printer that you want to open in administrator mode.
3. Click “Properties” in the menu bar.
4. Select “Open as administrator” from the pull-down menu.

To set up private printing for a single print job:

1. Click on File.
2. Click on Print.

4. On the Basic tab locate Print Job.
5. Click on the down arrow.
6. Select Private Print.
7. Click OK.
8. Click OK.

To create Devices and Printers shortcut in Windows 10, do the following. Right-click the empty space on your Desktop. Select New – Shortcut in the context menu (see the screenshot). Use the line “Devices and Printers” without quotes as the name of the shortcut.

Click on Start and then Control Panel; find the Printer Control Panel and click it open. Give a right-click on the icon for your printer and select Create Shortcut from the menu that appears. This will place a shortcut on the desktop that can be clicked to call up the printer settings whenever desired.

One way to install a printer without admin rights is to configure GPO to allow non-administrators to install required drivers. Alternatively, you can also try using a software updater utility to see if that can install the driver without requiring admin rights.
