How to download and activate the PBS Video app for Samsung Smart TV.

You can watch OPB programs on all your favorite devices. Use the PBS Video App on your smart TV, computer, tablet, phone or other streaming device. You can also watch online at watch.opb.org. Some programs are available to everyone, others are reserved as a benefit for OPB members with OPB Passport.

In the address bar, type http://pbs.org/activate. Enter the seven-character activation code in the textbox provided. This is NOT your Passport activation code. Click Continue.

1. Use the Search feature to search Samsung’s available app offerings for “PBS” and look for the official PBS Video app.
2. An option to “Install” the app will appear in the center of the screen.
3. The app will begin installing to your Samsung Smart TV.

3. Select first-time installation (sometimes called factory reset, full retune or default settings).
4. Press OK if your equipment asks if it’s OK to delete existing channels, then your retune should start automatically.

Weather conditions and time of day can really affect the reception. Doing the channel scan at night brought in those distant channels, but in the light of day the watchable channel list got a lot smaller. It’s sort of like tuning an AM radio at night. You’ll get a lot more stations than you will in the daytime.

The increase in signal strength can be quite strong in the right weather conditions. This effect is usually strongest in the evening/night because the upper atmosphere cools after sunset, but the ground (gathering heat all day) keeps the lower atmosphere warm.
