You need to reduce the height of UICollectionView to its cell / item height and select ” Horizontal ” from the ” Scroll Direction ” as seen in the screenshot below. Then it will scroll horizontally depending on the numberOfItems you have returned in its datasource implementation.

6 Answers. This should solve your problems. For anyone who runs across this question, contrary to some of the other advice provided, horizontal scrolling of a UITableView is possible and is not a violation of the HIG.

Add a UICollectionView to your view controller using the story board or programmatically. Add constraints to the newly added UICollectionView. It’s important to have a fixed height for this collection view as it will scroll in one direction. Set the scroll direction to horizontal.

1. If your keyboard does not have a Scroll Lock key, on your computer, click Start > Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard.
2. Click the On Screen Keyboard button to turn it on.
3. When the on-screen keyboard appears on your screen, click the ScrLk button.

To hide the vertical scrollbar and prevent vertical scrolling, use overflow-y: hidden like so:

Use a UITableView and add a UICollectionView to your reusable tableView cell. UICollectionView works similar to UITableView in that the “items” (like cells) are reusable and instantiated only when they will appear on screen.
