Back up contacts to SD card

To clear cache and data for the Contacts app, go to Settings > Apps > Contacts > Storage. Tap on Clear cache first. Restart your device and see if sync is functioning properly. If the issue continues, tap on Clear data or Clear storage depending on the available option.

Back up & sync device contacts by saving them as Google contacts:

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the “Settings” app.
2. Tap Google Settings for Google apps Google Contacts sync Also sync device contacts Automatically back up & sync device contacts.
3. Turn on Automatically back up & sync device contacts.

Android is heavily tied to Google accounts, and in most cases, your phone’s contacts should be backed up to Google Contacts already. You can verify this by opening Settings and heading to System > Backup. Make sure that backing up to Google Drive is enabled and check that Contacts have been backed up recently.

Disable and Re-enable Contacts Sync If the contacts sync is still facing any issues, you should check whether it’s actually enabled or not. If yes, then disable and re-enable it, as follows. Open Settings on your Android phone. Tap Account Sync and turn off the toggle next to Sync Contacts.

1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Scroll to ‘APPLICATIONS,’ then tap Contacts.
4. If necessary, tap Contacts to display > All contacts.
5. Tap Import / Export.
6. Tap Export to SD card.
7. Review the file name for the contact list on the pop-up message.
8. Tap OK to confirm export.

You’ll need to go to Settings, then iCloud. Turn the Contacts toggle to the off position. Next, turn Contacts back on, and they should be restored to your device through iCloud. See if the names of the missing contacts are there beside the numbers again.

If you own an Android phone, Google automatically backs up your contacts, app data, call history, and more to Google Drive. This feature is turned on by default. If you want to manually sync your contacts or export contacts into a separate file, you can upload the data to Google yourself.

Contacts are automatically synced to your Google account when you add the account on your Android phone. While some may not like that behavior, for others it is a godsend gift. Primarily because contacts are getting saved in the cloud automatically. So even if a person loses a phone or formats phone, contacts will be safe.

Learn about syncing. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Contacts app . Tap Menu Settings Export. Choose one or more accounts to export contacts from. Tap Export to .VCF file. When you first set up your Google Account on your phone, you’ll be asked if you want to back up your data.
