How to FIX the Black screen errors in Google Chrome and why they are happening.

The problem with Google Chrome having either a completely black screen or a partial black screen or even a flickering black screen when opening tabs, is normally caused by either corrupted extensions (not very likely) or a corrupted video driver (very common)

Chrome uses your computers graphics card to render the web pages quicker and to take some of the strain off of the main system and CPU.

Most modern multi core systems can easily cope with the demands of the rendering of web pages and content without using the GPU so disabling the hardware assistance or GPU is a quick and dirt fix to the problem.

The root of the problem is still there and may resolve itself over time with program updates and new vga drivers (if set to automatically update) but the reality is that you probably need to remove and re-install your graphics card drivers.

Quite often this problem will arise when a Windows Update or new graphics card is installed, although other apps and games etc will run fine but the rendering subsystem is borked!

And then when it has done it’s thing you can re-install the latest versions for your specific video card.
