Windows Spotlight is a Windows 10 feature that displays images from Bing as the background for the login or lock screen. Occasionally, however, Windows Spotlight stops working, and new images just stop loading…

If that is the case, this video is definitely for you! There are a few easy ways to fix the Windows Spotlight when it stops working.

BONUS TIP: If you haven’t already, make sure that the Microsoft Edge (only if listed), Microsoft Store, and Settings apps are turned on in Background apps so they can run in the background for Windows Spotlight images.

BONUS TIP 2:
Wait 24 hours. Sometimes, when Windows Spotlight first launches on a computer, it can take up to a day for the app to fully sync images with Bing. Before reinstalling your PC, give your system a day, then check to see if Microsoft Spotlight is working.

BONUS TIP 3:
Restart the Windows Spotlight. Select the Start menu, type Settings, and choose the Settings app. Select Personalization Lock Screen. Then select the Background drop-down arrow and choose either Picture or Slideshow. When you finish, reboot the computer, and switch to Spotlight.

METHOD 1 – RESETTING THE WINDOWS SPOTLIGHT
1. Open Settings.
2. Click on Personalization.
3. Click on Lock screen.
4. Under /”Background,/” make sure Windows Spotlight is NOT selected and change the option to Picture or Slideshow.
5. Use the Windows key + R keyboard shortcut to open the Run command.
6. Type the following path: %USERPROFILE%/AppData//Local//Packages//Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy//LocalState//Assets and click OK.
7. Select all the files (Ctrl + A) and hit the DELETE key to clear all old images (if applicable).
8. Use the Windows key + R keyboard shortcut to open the Run command again.
9. Type the following path to where the Windows Spotlight settings are stored: %USERPROFILE%/AppData//Local//Packages//Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy//Settings and click OK.
10. Right-click settings.dat and roaming.lock individually, then click Rename and name them settings.dat.bak and roaming.lock.bak.
11. Restart your computer.
12. Lock the computer (Win + L) to see if Windows Spotlight is working properly again.

METHOD 2 – REINSTALLING THE WINDOWS SPOTLIGHT
1. Open Start.
2. Search for Windows PowerShell, right-click the result, and select the /”Run as administrator/” option.
3. Enter the following command: Get-AppxPackage -allusers *ContentDeliveryManager* | foreach {Add-AppxPackage /”$($_.InstallLocation)//appxmanifest.xml/” -DisableDevelopmentMode -register } and press ENTER to reinstall the Windows Spotlight.
4. Restart your computer.
5. Lock the computer (Win + L) to see if Windows Spotlight is working properly again.

METHOD 3 – RUNNING THE SYSTEM MAITENANCE TROUBLESHOOTER
1. Open Start.
2. Search for Control Panel and open it.
3. In the Control Panel window, search for troubleshooters and click on the best result which should be Troubleshooting.
4. Next, at the top-left corner you should see ‘View all’ option. Click on that to open all available Windows troubleshooters.
5. Now, look for the System Maintenance troubleshooter and run it.
6. It might find some issues and hopefully will fix them for you.
7. Lastly, restart your PC to apply all changes.
8. Lock the computer (Win + L) to see if Windows Spotlight is working properly again.

After completing these steps, you should be able to see the new Bing images on your Lock screen.
