Having problems setting up your Fitbit device on your Android device?

Many people have the same problem. It seems to stem from the Android power management being too aggressive for the devices, causing the Bluetooth connection to time out or give up during data transfer.

There is a method to stop the App being restricted, and allow the App to stay awake long enough in the background to complete its sync.

So, in Oreo (other versions will vary slightly) you need to access the system settings menu, using the cog icon, and go into the battery options and make sure the settings are correct for the App. This normally means allow the app to run in a not optimised state.

This should after a reboot of the device and phone allow the app to talk to each other and track your fitness and other monitored areas like sleep and heart rate.
